Mixed cans are poured into the hopper. The constantly moving belt carries the cans from the can sorter hopper up to the
MAGNETIC HEAD PULLEY of the conveyor. Aluminium cans drop off the end of the conveyor,
whilst ferrous cans are held onto the surface of the belt and carried back under the head pulley where
they discharge into the ‘ferrous cans’ chute. This machine is particularly suited where low volumes (up
to 300kg per hour) of mixed aluminium and ferrous steel cans are to be sorted.

Operation of Magnapower Can Sorter MCS60 and MCS90

Mixed ferrous and non-ferrous cans are poured into the larger hopper of the MCS60 and MCS90 can sorters. The constantly moving belt carries the cans underneath the OVERBAND MAGNET. The ferrous cans are lifted up to the moving belt of the OVERBAND, which carries them to the side of the can sorter and discharges them into the ‘ferrous cans’ chute. Non-magnetic and non-ferrous material continues along the elevating conveyor belt and is discharged at the from of the can sorter.

In addition to the can sorter we can supply an eddy current separator (ECCS or ECS type) complete with splitter hood, base frame, control panel and vibratory feeder to clean the aluminium cans if they are contaminated with other material after the ferrous cans have been removed by the overband magnet.
